Lauren McGarrett is an award-winning filmmaker and video producer native to South Florida. She began editing at age 14, and has shown no signs of slowing down any time soon. Many of her films focus on telling the stories of often marginalized individuals with the goal of creating a greater understanding between different groups of people. At 21, she formed her own production company, Prize Box Productions. Mental health, discrimination and immigration are just a few of the topics her films have drawn inspiration from. In 2018, her short film “Foggy Sky,” began airing on PBS stations. She currently has a B.A. in Communication Studies from Nova Southeastern University.
